Cathy Boettcher: Executive Director
Cathy Boettcher has been working in the Early Care and Education Field for 40 years. She has worked exclusively in the non-profit sector and is presently the Executive Director at California Young World, Inc. In addition she is the Owner of Bet-Your-Life Consulting an Early Education Consulting Business. Cathy is a native Californian, born and raised in Los Gatos. She is a mom to daughter Madeline who is 19 years old. Currently she resides in Morgan Hill.
Cathy’s education includes an AS Degree from West Valley College in Early Childhood Education, and a BS Degree in Sociology from San Jose State University. She completed her Graduate work in Special Education; Early Intervention at Santa Clara University in 2006. She brings an extensive background in managing child development programs, especially those funded by the California Department of Education. She has worked in many different capacities including; Teacher, Administrator, Director, Curriculum Specialist, Program Director and Deputy Director. She recently served as Executive Director at Estrella Family Services for 4 years.
Cathy has served as Chair of the FIRST 5 Commission in Santa Clara County (2008-2011), is a member of the Local Early Education Planning Council, and Co-chair of the Title 5 Provider Network in Santa Clara County. She is an active member of many organizations. She is especially passionate about her work supporting the early care workforce, and sustaining programs that provide services for children with special needs. She is an Adjunct Instructor at De Anza College and Gavilan College and is an active member of several advisory boards. Cathy is also involved in advocacy related to facilities development of quality early learning programs.
As a consultant, Cathy provides Executive Management Support, Quality Assessment and Planning, Board of Director Strategic Planning, Facility Development Advisement, and Systems Change Support. Cathy is also a trainer in the Ages and Stages Assessment Tool. Additional training topic include; Program and Curriculum, Management Development and Coaching, Facilitative Leadership and Supervision and Administration of Child Development Programs.
Sandra Murguia: Fairwood Site Director
Hello! My name is Sandra Murguia, I am originally from Jalisco, Mexico. I have been residing in California since 2004. I’ve being happily married since 2011, and I have three handsome boys. I graduated from the University of Ateneo Metropolitano in Guadalajara, Jalisco with honors and obtained a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education. Since coming to the United States I have attended San Jose city college to further my knowledge in Early Childhood Education, I have attended workshops and conferences to keep updated with Early childhood education practices. Currently I hold a Site Supervisor Teaching Credential. I started working at California Young World in 2006, throughout my years of experience I have worked with many ages, I started with infants, then moved on to preschool and I’ve also had the opportunity to worked with school age children at the San Miguel site. As a teacher we never finish learning, and to keep up to date with new practices in early childhood I continue attending workshops, conferences and ECE classes at the community college to provide higher quality care and to help children learn, growth and develop in a safe, loving and friendly environment.
Emerson Ventura: San Miguel Site Director
My name is Emerson Ventura. This is my sixteen years of teaching at California Young World. I am originally from San Salvador, El Salvador where I received my Associated Degree in Business Administration. I have been residing in California since 1999. I have attended trainings, conferences, workshops, and therefore, I currently hold an Early Childhood Education teaching credential. Then knowledge that I have gained through all my years of teaching is that I understand the importance of planning ahead. Planning gives the children the opportunity to explore and experiment. Children have lot of creativity and children wants to find out all on their own. Our job as educators is to facilitate these experiments. I am looking forward to get to know both, you and your child. I believe that good communication between teacher, parent and students are an essential part of your child growth and development.
Josephine Felix: Ellis Site Director
I am Josephine Felix. I am from India and currently residing in San Jose with my family. I have B.Sc. degree in Chemistry, M.A. degree in Political Science, and a B.Ed. degree in Education from India. I continued my education in Early Childhood Education after coming to US and I have obtained a Site Supervisor Permit.
I have 12 years of teaching experience with kids of various ages. I would love to continue my education by going to more school to keep me updated. I learn something new every day from the children. Together with the team of amazing and creative teachers, I am committed to providing your family with a loving and developmentally sound foundation for a lifetime of learning.
Angelica Ortiz-Galvez: Program Enrollment Specialist
Hello, I am the Enrollment Specialist for California Young World. I began working at CYW in 2007 and have enjoyed every minute since. I am native to the bay area, but lived in Mexico for several years. I attended kindergarten through the third grade in Jalisco, Mexico; after my parents retired and moved there. After a few years we moved to San Jose where I completed grade school and an Office Management certification course. I have been around children all my life and loved to look after my nieces and nephews growing up. It’s a pleasure to work at CYW, where everyday is an adventure.
